The Ty Beanie Baby Web Video – Fake vs Authentic shows the differences between a counterfeit Ty Web Beanie and a real one. Below the video are pictures of the Authentic Ty Web Beanie Baby and a counterfeit Web, as well as the hang and tush tags.
It’s difficult to tell a FAKE Web versus an AUTHENTIC Web. But there are differences to look for.The FAKE Web has a thicker wider head versus a thinner smaller head on the AUTHENTIC Web. Also the fabric on the FAKE Web is a much darker red color than the authentic Web’s fabric, which is more of an orange-red color. The Fake Web’s eyes are very big and bubble-like & sticking out on the surface of the fabric, where as the Authentic Web’s eyes are smaller and more recessed, almost flush to the fabric.
Hang tag on left is counterfeit.
The fake tag is a different color red (almost an orangey-red color), the gold around the white TY is thicker and a lighter color gold than the authentic tag.
Hang tag on right is authentic.
The authentic hang tag is a deeper red color, the gold around the white TY is a thinner line and a deeper color gold.
The FAKE Web’s hang tag (LEFT) has the INCORRECT copyright date of 1983. The color, font size & type and print alignment is also wrong. The AUTHENTIC hang tag (RIGHT) has the CORRECT copyright date of 1993.
The FAKE tag (TOP) you’ll see “Ty(uk)LTD” – this is WRONG – the “(uk)” should be capitalized “(UK)” – the all-caps “LTD.” should have upper and lower case font “Ltd.”. The authentic tag (BOTTOM) correctly reads as “Ty(UK)Ltd.”
The back of Web’s FAKE hang tag (LEFT) is INCORRECT – wrong color, font size & type and print alignment. Authentic hang tag is on the RIGHT.
The AUTHENTIC Web ONLY came with a 1st generation black and white tush tag with a 1993 copyright date.
