Additional Information
In 2006 there was a Ty Collector’s Party and the launch of Henry and Charles Beanie babies the next day at Harrods. At the party they had games and quizzes and some were given a laminated piece of paper to be able to buy a boxed bear. 500 Henry’s and 1,000 Charles were boxed.
Ty hand signed the first 25 numbered certificates each for Henry and Charles, and the #1 signed certificate for each bear was auctioned off to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London. They reached over £900 pounds (~$1400) each.
The other 24 Ty hand signed certificates were randomly put among the remaining 1450 Ty’s printed signature certificates, in cases, behind the counter. It was very hard to get them. I (Karen Holmes) lucked out at 3:00 pm and found Henry’s #2 Certificate. It actually was put in the case with Charles Beanie by error, and Charles certificate had Henry in that case. You can tell by the numbering which bear it should go with. 002 with Henry, 0002 with Charles. About 6 certificates were put in the wrong box. It was easy to correct the error.
