The United States has participated in 5 FIFA World Cup tournaments (1930, 1934, 1950,
1990 and 1994). The best finish by a US team in the FIFA World Cup play was third place in
the 1930 tournament. In 1950, the US enjoyed its most celebrated FIFA World Cup moment
with a 1-0 upset win over England. And, in 1994,
many people were surprised when the US was
asked to host the 15th FIFA World Cup.

Representing the 32 countries participating in the 2002 FIFA World Cup, Ty produced 32 Champion bears, plus 2 written in Japanese and Korean as they hosted the World Cup.
As the countries were eliminated, the Beanies were retired. Brazil and Germany were the final 2, and Brazil won, becoming the World Champion with a score of 2 – 0.
Each bear’s nose had the flag of their country, and inside the hang tags was information about that country. All had an extra FIFA hang tag. FIFA stands for Federation Internationale de Football Association.
