If you come across a hang tag that seems to be attached incorrectly, don’t worry, it is most likely a Beanie Babies 2.0 and meant to be that way.
In 2008 Ty released the Beanie Babies 2.0 Collection, a year following the release of the Ty Girlz Collection. Both these collections were designed to interact with Ty’s website. They came with codes in their hang tags to unlock games and activities.
Originally the hang tags were attached on the right side of the tag, as you look at it, so that they couldn’t be opened and the code revealed. On this style there was an additional rectangular tag announcing to Play Online, and a blue button on the Beanie baby.

Test Market Tag
Collectors were not happy that the Ty hang tag attacher had to be cut to see the code inside, so Ty added an extra tag to put the code in. The first extra tag was yellow and round, and is referred to as a ‘test market tag’. The Ty hang tag could then be attached in the usual way so you could open it. The yellow tags have been seen on Beanie Babies 2.0 Bo, Sledder, Topper and Vines. We will record if any more are discovered.
Ty Hang Tag
Ty’s tag still had Beanie Babies 2.0 on the front and Beanie Babies 2.0 Collection inside.
The tush tag is also different on the test market tagged Beanies, they say MAY09 or JUN09 under HANDMADE IN CHINA.
Blue round tag
The extra tag was changed to a blue round tag with the code in it.
Yule Beanie Babies 2.0
Bo 2.0 Beanie Baby
Bo Beanie Babies 2.0’s hang tag and code changed several times. Read more about it in the Additional Information on Bo’s Beanie Facts page.
The online games portal of Ty’s website closed in 2013. If you buy a Beanie Babies 2.0 do not expect to be able to use the code any more.
Once the game part of the website closed, some Beanie babies hang tags changed to regular tags with The Beanie Babies Collection inside and no longer had 2.0 on the front of the Ty tag.
All these Beanie babies were part of Ty’s Beanie Babies 2.0 Collection.
