Play Date with Spot Ty Beanie Baby and Madame Alexander Outfit

In December 1996 the Madame Alexander Doll Company made approximately 4,000 boxed sets of Ty Beanie Baby Spot (with a Spot), no hang tag and 2nd Generation tush tag, and an outfit for their Little Huggums doll.  This was the first instance that a company used Ty Beanie Babies in a promotion. Many companies followed this example, making their own promotion incorporating a Ty Beanie Baby.

The set, #39853, was sold via authorized Madame Alexander retailers, including FAO Schwartz.  Ty Inc. didn’t sell it.  It is mentioned in the 1998 June issue of Mary Beth’s Beanie World | Collector’s Edition #5  Magazine.  They do come up  for sale on eBay from time to time.
